[PKR I’KESS ASSOCIATION. —COPYRIGHT.] FOUND DEAD. GORE, Aug. 26. The body of an unknown man, about sixty years of age, wa s found yesterday lying among some gorse near McNab siding. The man had been dead probably for two days. He had grey hair, a dark brown moustache, and was Gft 2in. in height. “ARREST” OF A SCHOONER. AUCKLAND, Aug. 26. The American schooner Lucy has been “ arrested ” for debt. The claim js by the consignees of case oil—Wright, Stephenson and Co.—for .£750 for alleged damage to the cargo and hire ot gear. BETTING PR OSECUTION. AUCKLAND, Aug. 26. A charge of making a bet in a registered factory was admitted at the Police Court to-day by Valentine Grelis. The evidence showed that accused went to a Chinese laundry and laid two doubles —Gluepot-Bon Revo, and Coalition-Boil Revo —at £S to 10s. The Chinaman won, and in the street accused congratulated him, saying that he would send the money. He failed fo do so, and when the Chinaman complained to the police, tho latter received 10s with a note signed “F. Harris.” A fine of £2O, with £4 0s 6d costs, was imposed.
