PEG 0’ MY HEART."
TO-MORROW NIGHT.
J. and N. Tail’s big success is to bo produced at the Princess Theatre to-morrow (Wednesday) evening for one night only. “Peg” free and blunt of speech, healthy in body and mind, sweet and lovable, awkward in gait and manner, and terribly Irish, with a brogue, such is the character as played by Miss Sara Allgood, who has established a record throughout Australasia, that is not likely to be disputed for many years to come. Supporting, her are most of the original company of players brought out to Australia by J. and N. Tait, including the distinguished young English actor, Mr Gerald Henson, in the role of “ Jerry,” a character beloved only second to “ Peg” by readers of J. Hartley Manners’ successful novel. The mother and daughter of the frigid English household into which “Peg” is thrust, will be played' by Miss Nan Taylor (Mrs Chichester) and Miss Mab Gower (Ethel), while the son of the house, the foppish Alaric Chichester, has a clever exponent in Mr Felix Bland, a clever English character actor Mr Lionel Walsh has been engaged to play the part of the rather attractive villian “Brent,” while others in the cast.will be Mr W. E. Power as “ Hawkes,” Mr George Chalmers as the butler, and Miss Madge Surtees as the maid. The action of the play takes place at Scarborough, in England and Taits have lavishly staged the comedy, it being presented here on the same scale as characterised the Metropolitan productions which was pronounced by critics as even better than the original London setting. The lighting effects are a revelation, the thunder storms, of which there are two, being most realistic. The full effects will be presented here, and the “Peg o’ My Heart” orchestra will render selections at the intervals in addition to the music of the play. The comedy was produced by that well s known producer Mr E. W. Morrison, who was responsible for ,1. C. Williamson’s success, “Within the Law.” The box plan is on view at Mrs Browne’s. Intending patrons who have not already secured their seats should do so immediately. -No extra charge is made for booking.
