[Captain Richard John Seddon was born in Kumara, 36 years ago. He served in the South African war and then later joined the Reienee Department, and was sent homo for military training. On coming back to New Zealand he resigned his appointment. He offered his services at the outbreak of tlu* war, but they were not availed of by the Defence Department at the time. Captain Seddon left New Zealand in charge of the 34th Reinforcements, and on Wednesday last we published an account of the voyage of the transport, conveying them to England. Deceased was the eldest son of the late Hon. R. J. Scddon and Airs Seddon, of Wellington. Two brothers. Captain T. K. Y. Seddon, (in America) and Lieut. Stuart Seddon (in Italy), are serving their country. Airs Bean, (Christchurch), Mrs Aforice, (Wellington', Airs Wood (England), Mrs Gilmer (Wellington), Airs Dwyer (Wellington), Aliss Alary Seddon (Wellington), are 'sisters, beep sympathy will be felt for Alt's.
