The Third Army commanded by General Byng made a surprise attack on a nine mile front and captured Courcclles, Achiet le Petit, and Ablainzeville and many hundreds of prisoners. A local British attack in Lvs salient ‘threatens the German hold on Dranoubro. THE BRITISH ATTACIv. MANY CAPTURES. Received, this day at 8 45 a.m. NEW YORK, August 21. The British attacked on a wide front north of the river Ancro and have captured Courcelles and have reached Moyennville and Beaumont sur Ancre. They have captured many guns.
