WESTLAND COUNTY COUNCIL.

TUESDAY, August 13th. NOTICES OF MOTION. 1. The Chairman to move:—“That the accounts for the month of Juno, 1918, ns revised and passed for payment, by the Finance Committee, amounting to £‘929/9/G, be approved.” 2. The Chairman to move:—“Tliat tho accounts for the month of July, 1918, as revised and recommended lor payment by tho Finance Committee, amounting to £ , be passed for payment.’’

The Chairman to move:-—“That in connection with the fourth anniversary of tho declaration of a righteous war, this Council on behalf of the inhabitants of the County of Westland records its inflexible determination to continue to a victorious end the struggle in tho maintenance of those ideals of liberty and justice, which are the common and sacred cause of the Allies.” 4. The Chairman to move:—“That in pursuance of the- provisions of tin* Rating Act, 1908, and its amendments, and under and by virtue of Section 117 of the Counties Act, 1908, a general rate of six farthings in the £ sterling upon tho capital value of the rateable property of the County of Westland, as appearing on the Valuation rolls now in force, be now made, the said rate to be for the year commenced on the Ist day of April, 1918, and ending on tho 31st day of March, 1919, | and to be payable in ono instalment at, the office of tho j County Council* of Westland at Ho- j kitika on tho 27th day of August 1918.” • r >. Norman'to move:—“That tho resolution on the books of tho Council granting permission to use a steam tractor on tho Kokatahi-Kaniori road for tho haulage of timber, be and is hereby now rescinded.”

6. Cr. Forguson to move:—“That the Chairman bo empowered to arrange for the construction of a culvert over the waterway adjacent to Herepo, factory where milk suppliers’ traffic is often impeded.” 7. Cr/ Forguson to move:—“That the Chairman be authorised to arrange for the extension of a roadway beyond Scally Road, to give access to the Waitnngi river bed.” , 8. Cr. E. A. Wells to move:—“That negotiations he opened with the PublicWorks Department for the restoration of the main road at Woodstock or such other improvement of the deviation road as will meet the requirements of the constant traffic. 9. Cr. R. Wells to move:—“That, the Public Works Committee be authorised to arrange for the rebuilding of Brennan’s Creek bridge reported by the Overseer to be unsafe for traffic.”
