V. BOAT MURDER
OF. NORWEGIAN CREW. Received, this day at. 8.45 a.m. LONDON, Aug 6. At an Atlantic port the officers of a British ship gave details of the sinking. of the Norwegian harguc Eglinton by U.-boat’s shellfire in the North Sea. Th U.-boat appeard 300 yards away and opened fire without warning. A lifeboat was hit while the crew were attempting to lower themselves and the crew wounded, including the Captain. When the lifeboats were shot- away, the crew boarded a raft, while the submarine’s crew watched. All but one of the barque’s crew died from wounds or exposure. Survivors who have arrived in a Canadian Atlantic port, report a British aehooner was submarined. It is understood to be tho U-boats’ intention to sink all fishing craft possible, after commandeering the provisions.
