A largely-attended meeting ol woolgrowers and fat lambs raisers to-day discussed the question of additional storage of frozen meat. especially lambs, in view of the acute shipping shortage. Air E. 0. Studliolme opened the discussion by a proposal that ! farmers interested should ask the j Pareorn works fo provide additional [ storage, the farmers to find the money. [lf IS,OOO lambs were provided for, the I cost would only be 2s a head, and this ! he recommended as a moderate insurI anec against the cost of feeding through I next winter (6s a, head), j 'After much discussion it was decided ; to ask the two companies to provide storage, and charge Is a head extra, which would cover the cost. This arrangement would place aTI the farmers on the same footing, whereas if the farmers found the means directly only those who contributed would have the right to the space. A committee was set, up to go into the matter. A further meeting discussed the proposal of Air Newman. ALP., regarding the disposal of profits from the commandeered wool surplus in England. y;ho meeting decided fo express no opinion as it is not known how the wool is dealt with or whether there will he any profits. A meeting of the Farmers’ Tll ion executive discussed wheat prices and decided to ask the Government to fix the price at 7s instead of a minimum of 6s and a free market.
