The Italian steamship Guiesppe Garribaldi, was sunk by dvnamito bombs, believed to have been" placed in the hold by Germans. The sinking occurred 200 miles off the Brazilian coast. Six of the crew wore killed. SINKING OF KYARRA. AN OFFICER’S NARRATIVE. AUCKLAND July 30. Captain Vaughan and two of the seurvivor's of the barque John Murray wrecked at Malden Island, also tomtom officers and men of the A.U.S.N. steamer Yvnrra, torpedoed on _ May 20th, arrived by the Mnkurn en route to Australia. An officer of the Ivyarra, interviewed stated that the vessel was to have gone from London to Australia with Australian troops. She was going down the Channel when there was a terrific explosion in the engine room and the vessel immediately started to settle. The steam pipes were blown out-, and the stokehold crew wore killed by the explosion and rush ot water, hive minutes after the torpedo struck the Kvarra filled. The starboard boats weu-, loaded and the crew embarked. The vessel sank fourteen minutes after being hit. The crew lost their personal effecta but wore dressed and all landed safely.
