A French Communique dated 4.33 p.m. states that the night was characterised by great artillerying between the Marne and tho Aisne in Ilois de Corn*ton and Bois do Roi.

A 2.30. a.m. French •communique states between Ourcq and the Marne our attacks were resumed this morning, and continued successfully throughout the day. We held on the left of Armentieres and Rhatelot Wood beyond which we reached and occupied Breky. «= Franeo-Americans in the centre advanced over three kilos at certain points. There is desperate fighting in the region of Epides and Vrigny. Germans recaptured Epides on Tuesday evening, but the American counter attack re-conquemb it. Wo advanced our line north of both villages beyond Gourpoil. We are advancing on our right in th© forest of Fere north Charteves and Jaulgonne. Further east we engaged the bridgehead at Treloup, and captured the southern part of the forest of Ris. Me captured in this sector five 5-ineh guns and much material. Intermittent artillerying took place between the Marno and * Rheims on Tuesday, in which we captured Rheims wood, south Courmas. We took several hundred prisoners. The total prisoners taken in the region of Maniv.Rainevnl and Aubuillersnorth of Montdidier on Tuesday is 1850 including 53 officers, of whom four were colonels. Our booty includes four field guns
