VARIOUS RESOLUTIONS.

The conference of the Council of Agriculture passed the following resolutions :

“ That in the opinion of conference there should be only one breeders’ society for each breed of animals, and one register for each.”

“ That conference considers it ad visable, on account of the shortage of shearers that all sheepoAvners should be asked to engage Avherever possible one learner to every four shearers or part thereof” “ That the Department of Agriculture bo urged to certify to the value or otherwise of all sheep-dip mixtures offered for sale in the Dominion, Avith the view of ascertaining whether the mixture put up may be deemed a satisfactory dip for killing ticks and lice on sheep.”

“ That in vieAv of the Avant of nnifrom treatment by pastoralists of footrot, which has seriously increased in Hawke’s Bay this year, the Government be urged to make exhaustive experiments and advise as to the best treatment.”

i “ That further steps bo taken to | urge upon the Government to have investigations made into the cause and preA'entioh of dry rot in turnips.” “ That the Government be urged to conscript for national work all eligible enemy aliens and persons of enemy descent avlio might claim exemption from military service by reason of their enemy parentage.” It Avas decided to urge the Government to make mandatory those clauses in the Rating Act giving power to local bodies to exempt bona fide slioav grounds from taxation.

A motion that conference, at its rising, should adjourn sine die Avas withdrawn, after discussion.

The following Council Avas elected— North Island—Messrs Q. Donald, E. A. Campbell and E. Hall. South Island—Messrs F. Macplierson G. A. Macdonald, and W. D. Hunt.
