BREAKING THE NEWS
(Received This Dav at 11.25. a.m.) AMSTERDAM, July 9th. A Berlin somi official message refers to the frequent Allied patrol attacks. It significantly alludes to the appearance of big American detachments on several parts of the front. It is evidently deemed advisable to break the news to the people, of the appearance of the Americans.

Von Weldon, Food Minister, in a gloomy speech in the Reichstag, referring to the necessity to introduce a meatless week, monthly, during August, September and October, said the food stocks were far below necessities. He feared the difficulties would continue for a long time. His speech was constantly interrupted. , A Socialist, Wells, protested against meatless weeks, and warned the Governthat the people would not tolerate greater suffering tknn they were now enduring. Wart, an Independent Socialist, said the belief that Germany could feed herself were erroneous. It was one of the contributory causes of the war. He protested against the recent antirstrike measures.
Warneberg said that the storm troops wore and -with machine guns intimidated th* workers.
