Further details of the sinking of the Grier' (the ex-Gorman ship) cabled on 22nd June, show the tank steamer Florida cut a huge hole in the Grier ■which sanki quickly. Meanwhile tile officers and men, numbering 215, were rescued. Scores jumped into the sea, when the collision occurred. Several were injured by the collision, which occurred at dawn in clear weather. T cause is not known. The crew urn-to-dav. They relate sensational inc" dents of the rescue. The tank steamer was uninjured. LLOYD GEORGE. ON THE WORLD’S WORK. (Received This Day, at 12.10. a .in.) LONDON, Juno 23. Hon Lloyd George, in an address to the Welsh Baptist Church in London, said it was not known how long the terrible war would last, but however long the world would outlast it. We had suffered in war time owing to the lack ;>f preparation. Wo must not make the same mistake in peace time, lie hoped the churches would help to put the molten world into the right mould.
