Sir,—Before leaving, I desire to thank the people of Hokitika and Westland, and their representatives, for the many kindnesses shown to my mother, brothers and myself during our visit here. I feel that we have been made very welcome indeed, and although at present, I cannot accept any of the kind invitations that have been. extended to me, 1 look forward to being able to do so at some future date. I iee that l have made many friends. While thanking the. people of W estland for the hospitality shown to mo. I and mine. Thov have all proved thcmscKes to he ! of tho best, from the private to Capt, , Tom Sodden. J particularly mention Mr Seddon’s name ns I know that at the battle for Passohendaclo Ridge he did all that a brave soldier could, and that under very trying conditions.
