One steamer and several smaller c;raft were sunk off the Jersey coast by G<‘i man submarines. The ships were attacked during the night. The going out of ships has been stopped. It is believed half a dozen vessels have been sunk. Eastern ports are closed, and there are no sailings. The crews of several crati were rescued and landed. Two U-boats were seen.

New. combe of the steamer Cole, a submarine was sighted on Sunday afternoon, 300 pards away. It fired n shot across the bows and circled the victim. They sent men aboard who sank the Cole with bombs. The crow escaped in small boats and were picked up by the American steamer’ Bristol, and brought to New York .
