The Admiralty reports that the armed Mdrqantile cjruiser Moldavia was torpodoed and sunk on the 23rd. The crew escaped, hut 56 of the American troops aboard are missing. It is feared that they were killed by tho explosion. ,

The Moldavia was carrying American • troops. Though it was moonlight, the , look out failed to se© the submarine. The torpedo struck the vessel amidships. Th© majority of those on board were below in their hammocks. There wa* a great rush from the the sleeping quarters, and many only wero in their night' attire. Soldiers and sailors alike fell in and awaited orders, there being no panic.

The escorting ships saved all, except, ing sixty Americans. These were sleeping on the bottom deck, and it is supposed that' they were drowned by the rush of water following the explosion.

The Admiralty reports that our escort submarine reports on the 11th, in the latitude of Cape St. Vincent she sank a German submarine of the so-called cruiser type. There was no survivors.
