The Finance Minister on April 30, inti, mated that there would be a surplus of revenue over expenditure for the year of 6,000,000. The expenditure increased from £6,095.355 in 1916-17 to £6,668,810 in 1917-18. The principal items were interest and sinking fund, which increased from £4,014,791, to £4,930,779. War pensions from £180,165, to £515, 383. Old ago Pensions from £453,085 to £612,462. Expenditure under annual appropriations for end of two years showed an increase of nearly £500,000.
