LORDS ATTITUDE ON PEACE.

LONDON, May 9th. The House of Lords debated Lord Denbigh’s motion deprecating Pacifist activity. Ho urges an energetic propaganda to counter-attack the Pacifist organisations, many of which were inspired'from enemy sources. Lord Haldane declared that __ the country need not fear the Pacifist. The nation’s heart was sound regarding the war aims. A committee should be formed to educate the public opinion regarding the urgency of combating German penetration after the war. The 'country should complete its industrial preparations to safeguard our position. Lord Lansdowne agreed that it was needful to instruct the people better concerning the German methods and war aims. He denied he had ever .advocated peace by surrender. Lord Lansdowne added that Lord Denbigh seemed to think there must not be peace hv negotiation, but peace would not drop from the clouds.
NO HOPE. (Received This Dav at 19.16. a.m.) PARIS, kay 9. The Chamber of Foreign Affairs Commission considered the Austrian documents and other evidence regarding the pcaco conversation, never at any time, afforded an opportunity .for the conclusion of peace acceptable to France or her Allies.
