The State Cabinet has increased the guaranteedT price of wheat to 4s. at country stations.

WAR LOAN EXTENDED. MELBOURNE, This Day. Mr Watt has announced the extending of the closing date of the War Loan to the 25th. In the House of Representatives Mr Watt introduced the Supply Bill . He said he proposed to submit, early in the new financial year, the Government’s new taxation proposals.

FEDERAL POLICY. MELBOURNE This Day

Mr Cook in outlining the policy, said Government proposed to 'establish a bureau of commerce and industry., in charge of a business man, who would act with representatives of the various industries. Defects in the industrial machinery would be removed, and provision would be made for enlisting for Home Defence, of persons between the ages of 21 and 50, who are ineligible for service abroad. The Income Tax Bill will he amended, constituting the employer as the collecting agent for the department. When the employee fails to pay, with power to deduct from the employees wages.

In the Houso of Representatives, Mr Cook in introducing the Supply Bill for five millions, stated the revenue for nine months was £1,291.000 below the estimate, but the expenditure was £2,_ 047,000 below the estimate, therefore they were actually in a hotter position than lwjy expeced ito the extent of £750,000.

At the Blood Stock Sales Lanins passed at the same figure. The brood mare Simonia, on behalf of J. Moore of New Zealand fethclied one hundred. Bee fetched 1,000, Chantemerle 2.200 guineas.
