' STRENGTH IN THE WEST,

LONDON March 6.

A high authority states that the strength of the enemy divisions on the West Front is still increasing. They have now a majority of some sixteen divisions over the Allies; but that does not. mean that- they aTe superior in strength, owing to the Allies’ divisions being larger. We have also accumulated large supplies of guns and aircraft ,and our superiority is maintained, though it is steadily diminishing.

Enemy prearations arc more or less complete and he can attack soon, as his local preparations are finished. It is more difficult to discover these local preparations than the larger efforts, because comniouflage has reached a degree of skill, that it is hard to learn what is going on." FRENCH REPORTS. A French communique reports reciprocal artillerying in the region of Corniney and Rlieims. To-day there was intermittent bombardments of our lines in the region of Avocourt and north of Douamont.

HAIG’S REPORT. LONDON March 6. Marshal Haig reports :—Enemy artillery is more active at,-St- Quentin, Rois Grenier. Canihrai, and Ypres. AVe bombed railway sidings north-east of Lille, and brought down throe aeroplanes. One of ours is missing. Night fliers- bombed Ingelmunster railway station, and the aerodrome at- St. Quentin.
