THE HAVNA TORPEDOED. / LOSS OF TWELVE MEN. . (Reuter’s Telegram.; ‘ LONDON March 6. The captain nnd five of the crew of. tlie Norwegian steamer Havna have landed in Britain. The vessel was torpedoed without warning and sank in a minute. 12 of the crew are missing.. The survivors clung to tlie rafts all night. They saw eight on another raft, hut all died or were washed off. Tlie survivors found and righted a lifeboat, in which they drifted for fifty hours, before they were rescued by an American destroyer. While the men were in the water the Germans refused to help them.
A REVOLTING MURDER. CRIMINAL SUBMARINE CREW. LONDON March 7. The “Central News” has ascertained the details of revolting murder of a Belgian fishing skipper last week. A German submarine Righted the smack and .fired without warning, destroying 1 the masts and sails and wounding the skipper. The submarine ordered the Belgians to out two Germans’ aboard with bombs. Tlie Germans found the skipper wounded and helpless and shot him dead with a revolver in sight of the crew, among whom was the skipper’s son. The Belgians were then cast adrift in a cockshell boat but were picked up after severe privations.

Tn the House of Lords, Lord Lyttoii, replying to Lord Charles Beresford, stated that shipping losses in the Trisli Channel were greater in 1918 than in any previous period of the war. The Government was shortly announcing the true position in regard to shipbuilding.
