RACING NEWS.

A SUGGESTED MATCH. fruit 1-ItKSS ASSOCIATION. —COPYRIGHT. J (-Received Yesterday at 11.10. p.m.) SYDNEY, March 3. A proposal is being mooted to arrange a meeting between Biplane and Desert Gold, in Australia, and is arousing considerable interest. The “ Sun .” states a cable to Mr Greenwood, brought a reply after Biplane’s defeat by Estland .that the eolt at present was unfit to compete' with Desert Gold. Mr Lowry, interviewed in Melbourne, raised the difficulty of getting such performers fit and well at a given date. He did not at present feel disposed to consent t.o such a - proposal, because anything might happen before the actual day of the contest. The suggestion was made for a) special meeting to he arranged at Band wick, one event being a match b° tween the champions. It was-claimed that it would he such an attraction as would provide a recompense lor both owners and yield a large profit for the patriotic funds. One difficulty, is that the Commonwealth government has decided to grant no new racing dates and the A. J.C. has no spare days, and under the new decision could not, without special Government sanction, look for a new one.
