BOWLING CLUB TOURNAMENT
X VERY SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. The gathering on. Saturday afternoon in the local Bowling Club’s green in aid of the Packet Day Fund'proved a very successful one from every point of view. The/'afternoon was beautifully fine, and there was ail excellent- attendance, the enclosure wearing a very animated appearance. The ladies assembled in good numbers and as a result of some practice indulged in the previous evenings showed, excellent form. The play took thfe form of seven head full rink phiy between three rinks of ladies with the exception that live of the sterner sex filled vacancies in the teams, the latter playing left handed. The winners of the first round then played each other and the final between the two winners was-then played and resulted in a win for Airs W. Wilson’s rink, after a tie of f> points each.
Oil the putting green a number of golf enthusiasts were busily engaged on a six hole putting competition much in terest being shown, while a bowling competition.'* of howling to a circle also caused considerable '.interest and brought in some coins towards the total. Afternoon tea was a Very welcome addition to the gathering and was daintily laid out in the pavilion. The afternoon resulted in an addition of over £ll to the funds. Macfarlane and Airs Benjamin (S), 3, last to Airs Braddon, Airs Evans, and Airs Boyd and Airs W. AA’ilson 4, : PINAL. a Airs Braddon, Airs Evans, Airs Boyd and Airs W AVilson (S) 5 drew with Airs Scott, Airs AVilliams, Airs Hickson, and Airs J.. H. AVilson (S) 5. In a further head played to decide the tie Airs W. AVilson’s rink scored two and won the match.
PAIRS’ GAAIE. A pairs game played between Mrs Wethcy and Airs Stewart (S) and Airs Grimmond and Doctor (S), resulted in a win for tho former lifter a close and interesting game by 12 to 11. PLACE BOWLING. Erein a large lumber of competitors Messrs Boyd and Stewart tied. PUTTING COMPETITION. The golf putting competition over six holes proved of decided interest. Airs C. AI. Alalfroy won tke ladies competition, with a score of 12, while Air. Hickson won the gentlemen’s competition with a score of 10.
