Eugene Schwerdt, a millionaire wool merchant, has been arrested on a charge of being a German agent. He has been interned. It is stated that he conspired to corner all the wool in America for Germany. The majority adopted the system of exchanging vouchers for meat, with coupons, especially for fish. There was a great demand for vegetarian dishes. IRELAND’S CONDITION. LONDOIN February 25. In the Commons, Hon A. Bonar Law said the corfdition of part of Ireland was under Cabinet’s consideration. He was unable to make a statement regarding the measures for strengthening the Executive’s hands. A DENIAL. LONDON February 25./ Hon. Bonar Law denied that Germany had officially suggested giving up poison gas. He added that such a suggestion may merely be a blind. SUPPLY OF FLAN. Each represents a severe loss to Germany, owing to the size and extended period required in building. They are driven on the surface by steam, giving an eighteen knot speed, and are equipped with telescopic funnels, which disappear into the hull before submersion. They ajre armed with s .ft guns.
