Hotel Workers’ Union waited on the AttorneyGeneral to-day . with reference to the anti-shouting regulations .as affecting bar-tenders Tin.- regulations, it was pointed«s«ut, carried a maximum penalty of £IOO, and prevented subsequent employment on licensed premises. The regulations also threw the onus otproof on the defendant. The deputn tion asked , that the maximum penalty be reduced'to £lO, and that the disqualification 'provision be struck out. Sir Francis Bell said lie could' only promise that he. , would consider the matter and if he were satisfied that there was Cause for the statement that the regulations are unduly harsh, he would bring the matter before Cabinet, avitli a recommendation for ’mitigation.
ANOTHER OUTBREAK OF FIRE. WANGANUI February 22. Another fire occurred at 2.45. thi« morning at A. D. Willis, printing and bookselling establishment, the machine and composing rooms being gutted. The building is situated just at the rear of Foster’s hotel. It is surmised, that a spark from the hotel fire caused the outbreak. The insurances total £4,000 ,Jn 1 various offices. -The loss is esti mated at £1.500 above that amount.
