The Council met at 8 p.m. Presold Messrs G. A. Perry (Mayor), G. if. Blank, G. Wood, A\ Parkhill, J. King, and H. A. Thompson. Apologies were made for Messrs A. ■Stapleton R, King and .Preston. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From A. Scott Sumner, asking Council to make arrangements for upkeep of a grave in the cemetery in perpetuity: —Received: referred to Cemetery Committee to report.

From J. A. Giese, drawing attention to necessity of cutting gorse surrounding his house on the brow of cemetery hill.— Received; referred to Public Works Committee to attend to.

From Mrs Preston, offering 10/- per year rental for reseive at rear of her section, Hampden Street —Received : and referred to Reserves Committee to deal with.

From Treasurer reporting, receipts £315/2/3; payments £512/11/1; debit, balance, £251/18/2. —Received. Aceouns amounting to £298/0/8 were passed for payments. Tilt! Overseer’s report on work done during the period was read and received. From Manager of Abattoirs, reporting during January there were exam-' ined, 7 Cows, 59 bullocks, 220 sheep, 56 lambs, 3 pigs, and 7 calves; condemned 2 bullocks. Fees for month £49/11/0. —Received Mr Blank drew attention to the necessity of a quantity of gravel for the cemetery. He understood it had been authorised some nionhs ago. He moved that the gravel he procured at once. Seconded- by Air Thompson, supported by Mayor and agreed to.

Mr Blank drew ntetntion to the excessive speed of some motor cars when passing through the town and moved that steps he taken to have the bye-laws put into force and action he taken against offenders. Seconded by' the Mayor and agreed to. Tb<* Council rose at 8.15. p.m.
