WAIROA, February 12,
The Wairoa Farmers’ Union carried a motion yesterday to ask the Government for authority to slaughter and freeze horses for export. It is estimated at 4d. per pound horses would net £2O each.

Cabinets Ims resolved that permits are to be issued for the collection ot moneys for the erections of returned soldiers’ clubs.

Replying to the deputation Hon T. 31. Wilford said that he had been astounded at what he had seen in the apple-growing districts. Previously, although he had read about them, he had no idea of the district’s potentialities. Members of Parliament should see what was being done .
