FIRE IN BEALEY STREET.
TWO STOREY HOUSE GUTTED Tlie firebell s rang out a vigorous alarm last night about 9.40 o’clock. A large glare in the sky at once showed the location of the fire which was in the two storeyed building in Bealey Street south, known as the late Mr. Jack’s residence, and at present owned ,by Mr. W. Darragh, the well-known baker. The fire had a good hold when the alarm as given, flames coming out of the front and north side. Members of the Fire Brigade were quickly on the scene, and several lines of hose were run out promptly. Once the water was put on the fixe was quickly got gilder control, but not before the house had been considerably gutted. For some time past the building had been undergoing renovation, Mr. Darragh intending to move back into the building shortly. The fire apparently started on the ground floor in the vicinity of the stair case, this' per tions being badly gutted. The new portion at the back is practically undamaged, but the interior of the main structure will need renewal., Mr. Darragh was in the house about 5 p.m. yesterday having a look round. There is no clue as to the cause of the outbreak. The building was insured in the Northern Office for £3OO.
