The “New Zealand 'rimes’’ Bluff correspondent* telegraphs that John Topi, has consented to nomination for the Southern Maori seat. lie is a son of . the,late Kingi Topi, a chioftan of Ngaatnhu and Ngahimamoo' tribes. The oandidate is regarded in great favour among the Maoris and Euroneans. Tie was educated at Te Ante College. Tie is a keen snort and in his younger days travelled considerably He unsnecessfnlly fried to enlist in the present war, being debarred by the effects of an accident on the foo,ball field. . He y a supporter of the National Covernmont. He also seeks Sir Joseph Ward’s nomination as a Liberal.
