Mrs. Lloyd announces reductions on all Summer Millinery.

Mr. W. Gooch has two car s leaving the garage to-night at 8 o’clock for the Koiterangi dance. Also two seats for the overland journey in the morning, to connect with train at Jackson. Armourer Staff Sergeant Reg. Lyons’ N.K.A.O.C. who ns been stationed at Trentham camp for nearly three, years in charge of the Armourer’s shop, is under orders to leave for England to undergo a course of training in the small arm factories there for six to twelve months, and will then probably Ito sent over to France to the base there. iSergt-Major Lyons who is’ the second son of Mr and Mrs B. Lyons of Stafford, is at present home on final leave. He goes with the 34th reinforcements. Two other sons are at present at the front in France.

A trial by court-martial was held at I Trentham Camp on Wednesday, when ! Privates Daniel Brosnan ,Howard Hop- j kins, and Wm. McKenzie, of Details, • were arraigned on charges of refusing j duty. Major D. W. Talbot was president of the Court the other members i of which were (Y.ptnL- R. J. Soddon • and Lieut. 11. M. Clark. The throe men, who declined to parade, had they declared, conscientious objections t° military service. They were of various denominations, otic describing himself as a Roman. Catholic, another a Socialist, and the third a Freethinker. Hopkins also, as an Englishman, objected to the principle of conscription. He is stated to be a Second Division man, the first of the Divi&on to express religious objections 'to service. After hearing the evidence the Court said the decision would he announced later in camp orders.
