Young, M.P. for Waikato, in the course of an interview referring to his recent visit to the West Coast stalled that on New Year’s Day his party motored on down the Bailor Gorge 'to Murchison, and although they got through without serious interference from floods, they had the i good fortune to see the .Bailor in full j flood, a most impressive sight. dences of the recent serious floods were everywhere visible. Kumara and Hokitika were next visited, and hero again the damage done* by the floods was somewhat serious. Prune of thelarger bridges had been badly datnag- i ed, while the traffic bridge across the Teremakan, near Kumara, which connects up a thriving agricultural district- with the gold-mining district, had had a large 80 feet span washed 1..
