WORLD’S RECORD CLA IM I'M) AT TAIfiAPE. WANGANUI, December 29, Wlmt is believed to be a: world’s record lor the day’s shearing has been established at Taihape by Air. W. Villa, one of the Dominion’s champion shearers, his tally at Mr. J. M’Carton’s shed being 339. The previous best tally was held by Riano (333), but Riano’s tally was made on lambs, while Villa’s performance it all the more meritorious when it is considered that five hours were occupied on big ewes, Had the shearing been all lambs, Villa’s remarkable total would have been considerably augmented. Two other big tallies were' put up in the same shed by J. Skinner (304). and J. Queenan (264).
