General Haa'g reports artillerying was. active north of St. Quentin in the neighbourhood of Arras and east Ypres . FRENCH REPORT. [AUSTRALIAN & N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION 1 & REUTER.] LONDON, Dec. 27. A French communique says: The artillery struggle continues north of Caurieres Wood. German attacks yesterday were very violent. After powerful artillery preparation they threw two battalions into the assault. In the second attempt they reached our position; but were driven out. The number of-corpses testifies to the heaviness of Hie enemy losses.
“NOTHING DOING” (Received. This Day at 8.50: a.m.t LONDON December 28. General Haig states there is nothing to report. A FRENCH REPORT. (Received This Day at 9.15 a.m.) LONDON December 28. A French communique says on the right of the Meuse artillery activity was continuous at Cauriers Wood. The Bezonvaux batteries caught enomytroops assembling north-west of Bezonvaux and dispersed them with heavy loss.
