LATE LOCALS.

i The Greymouth Borough Council ' yesterday appointed Mr G. E. Perkins a s acting Town Clerk. Mr Gooch, the mail contractor for the new motor service from Jackson, continues to make good time-table delivery of the mails in Hokitika on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The convenience of the service is being much appreciated by the public, added to as it is by the regularity of the mail delivery. A long needed improvement to tlio ; main hall of the Town Hall is being effected by lining of the building. The scrim and paper has been removed and is being replaced by lining which will be painted and made more comfortable in appearance, as well as durable. ' heightens the interest in the monster | benefit to he given that evening at the Princess Theatre by the Ladies’ Literary Club in aid of the Westland Patriotic Fund. An unusually attractive programme will he submitted. Its' variety will enable all tastes to be met. One special feature will be a pianoforte solo by Mrs Ivon Wilson, whose delicacy of touch and sympathtic treatment of all accompaniments stamp the . lady as the high class performer she undoubtedly is. Her solo effort should , therefore be an item of special delight. The box plan for this very attractive ■ entertainment is now open at Mrs Browne’s where seats are now being booked.
