THE WESTERN FRONT.
THE HINDENBURG TUNNEIL. 13 MILES LONG. SOWN WITH MINES. PARIS, Npvember 28. The /capture of the ,Hinhenburg tunnel is now practically complete. Investigations show that it was thirteen miles long with a depth of forty feet. Mines were sown through the whole length', which it was arranged to explode by means of switches . Fortunately the British electricians discovered and cut the wire. Vast stores of food and tobacco have already been discovered. The dugouts were luxouriously furnished, and the whole electrically lighted and fitted with exits every 25 yards. FRENCH REPORT. LONDON November 28. A French communique states there are artillery actions in various sectors. HAIG’S REPORT. LONDON November 28. Marshal Haiig reports: —There is nothing special on the Camhrai battle front. We repulsed two raids in the vicinity of Avion. Enemy artillery is active, on the Ypres front . allied conference. PARIS, Nov. 29. Public opinion in regard to an InterAllied Conference regards it as cumbersome, and hardly tending to unity. Sixteen countries will be represented, •including Brazil, China, Cuba, and Siam. M. Clemencau presides. WEST FRONT DANGER. (United Service Telegrams.) (Received This Day at 9.50 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 29.' There is a growing disposition of the press and military experts to lay stress on the likelihood of the West Front having to bear the full brunt of Germany's efforts, owing to the moribundity of Russia.
The “Daily Mail” estimates 120 enemy divisions are on the East Front, and the majority will probably he transferred to the West, with masses ot artillery.
General von Hindenburg is likely to exploit them to the utmost and make the most of his opportunity, before the American man-power is appreciable. BELGIANS ATTACKED. AN ENEMY REPULSE. (Received This Dav at 19.15. a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 29. General Haig reports after sharp fighting, an attack against the Belgian positions near Aschoop-failed. We captured prisoners during the might in patrol encounters southwards of the Scarpe.
