Eg- i gers, in connection with the Runanga j tragedy, was to-day farther remanded till Friday next. 1 The prisoner, who was not represented by counsel stated he had been given to understand that legal aid would lie forthcoming, as he had not the means wherewith to secure such assistance. The .Magistrate, Mr. T. Hutchison, pointed out that the Crown provided counsel, on indictable offences' only, at trials in the Supreme Court. If accused made an application in the direction indicated, ho would report to the Minister.
