A TRAGEDY RECALLED.
QUTNI.AN KIUIED ON ACTIVE
SERVICE.
Thomas Quinlan, who about twelve years ago was sentenced to imprisonment for life for the murder of Mrs. Gregory, of Western Australia has been killed while on active service. Quinlan was released from gaol by the. Attorney General (MV. .Hall) 'after serving ten years. When he committed the crime Quinland was a hoy of 16, and was employed at the hotel as “hoots.” Mrs. Gregory, who was staying there had valuable jewellery in her possession, and that, it appears, was the motive for the crime. His conduct while in gaol was exceptionally good ,and when released ho decided to enlist. After being at the front for some time Quinlan was wonndied and sent to hospital. He was then offered a clerical position in London which he refused and when well enough returned to the firing line Recently news of his death was received in Sydney.
