Tn the Polico Court at Wellington on Friday, Edward Sullivan, a trimmer aboard a transport, pleaded guilty to attempted theft of a crate of cheese, the property of the Defence Department. The Alagistrate remarked that stealing from ships was rife throughout the Dominion and something must be done to put a stop to it. A sentence of six months’ imprisonment was imposed..
The local Rowling Green is now wearing a very attractive appearance. The green lias, progressed splendidly since being top dressed. There is a great s ward and it is in capital order for playing. A number of members have put in a lot of work in cutting and rolling the green of an evening, and the condition of the playing ground pays a tribute to tlieir labours.
