LATER DETAILS
GREYMOUTH, Nov. 16.
Enquiries go to show that MacMahon was in town on Saturday evening, the day after the tragedy. On Sunday he played cards with young fellows and viewed the train for the cemetery carrying his victim. He entered into a discussion on the tragedy and viewed the train with other R through field glasses from the balcony of an hotel. He complained that he had had a bad bead through booze obtained at Blackball where he alleged he. went for his lugage. Telephone enquiries to-day failed to confirm such a visit and it is surmised non- that the luggage brought to the hotel on Sunday morning was the missing money. Mr. Hall’s condition is slightly improved. Mr. James hopes to he about- in the course of a week.
