TRANSFER OF' SHIPS. NEW YORK, Nov. 14. The Now York “Times,” Washington correspondent reports the United States lias completed arrangements with the European neutrals and Japan for the. transfer to the Allies of more b-m 400,000 tons of shipping, which are now in United States ports. Neutrals will receive in return foodstuffs. Japan has sold a large percentage of her tonnage for steel plates. Dutch ships will he used for transporting wheat from Australia to United States.
CONTROL OF MEAT. [AUSTRALIAN & N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION] OTTAWA, Nov. 14. The Government ha s taken over control of all moat packing houses in the Dominion, confiscating half the profits in excess, even up to 15 per cent., and the whole profits in excess of 15 per cent.
Tt is stated that this action has become necessary owing to the extensive food profiteering. A DENIAL.
(Received this day at 12.30 a.m.) LONDON November 14. The Admiralty denies the German Ad miraltv’s allegation that a British destroyer was hit during the engagement off - Flanders. It explains that- a German destroyer fired rounds on our patrol vessel. The fire was promptly returned and t he Germans immediately retired, and our patrol was resumed.
QUEENSLAND PEACE TERMS. (Received This Dav at 9.50. a.m.) BRISBANE, This Day. The Chamber of Commerce at Townsville has asked all the Queensland Chambers to pass certain peace resolutions and forward them to London through the Associated Chambers of Australia. The proposals favour suggestions in favour of the extension of the boundaries of France to the Rhine the surrender of the German fleet in- ' tact, the replacing of every Allied ship sunk, and the splitting up of the Federal German states.
AMERICAN FINANCE. (Received This Dav at 10.15. a.m.) NEW YORK, Nov, 15. Mr. MoAdoo in a speech said the Government expenditure was below the estimate and it would be necessary to raise only ten billions more by July. The people must show threy aro prepared to make any sacrifice of luxuries pleasures and comforts. BRAZIL’S REPLY. Received, this day at 8.45 a.m. -RIO DE JANIERO, Nov. 15 The Brazilian Government replying to the Pope’s peace proposal, maintains the rights of all nations on a basis of justice and equity. Germany’s activities had compelled Brazil to enter the war to defend her fundamental rights.

A steamer without lights, under Admiralty orders, collided With another in the Channel on Sunday and sank. Fourteen were drowned. The unknown steamer though asked to stand by, steamed off.
