STAFFORD.

(Our correspondent). The Welcome Home Social and Dance tendered to Private George Turner took place last Friday night, a large representative gathering assembled in TurnerV. Hall to do honour to the guest of the evening, Private Turner being carried shoulder-high on to the stage, where ho was presented with a beautifully inscribed gold pendant. Aliss B Muir of Three mile presented the red, white and blue ribbon, to which was attached the medal, on to the coat of the returned sdldier. “God Save the King,” and “He’s a Jolly Good Fellow,” were sung during the ceremony. Private Turner, amidst cheers, in a neat little speech, thanked all those present for the splendid evening’s entertainment aecorded hfm, and also for the beautiful present.
