Exceptionally high prices ruled for' fat stock at the Central Yards yesterday. For a Hereford bullock not yet two year old the record figure of £ls 15s was realised. The bullock of course was exceptionally prime and was considered by Mr W. Diedrdchs, tile vendor, to be 5501bs weight. A line of three fat cows, brought up from Hari Hari by Mr W. Soarle, fetched the high price of £l7 17s 6d each. This surely constitutes another record for the yards mentioned. I Much concern was felt in Reef ton on Saturday morning when it became known that Mrs. Williams, wife of Mr E. O. Williams, bootmaker, had disappeared during the night, and in spite of all enquiries no trace of her could he found, search parties were out all day and later on a systematic search was carried out, while there was any light remaining, hut without result. On Sunday at daylight the search was resumed, and about H a.m. the body was discovered in a by-wash of the river.
We regret to record the death of Mrs Thomas Jones, of Ruatapu, which took place early ,tihis morning at Westland Hospital after a short illness. The deceased, who was a native of Rimu, and only'24 years of age, was a daughter of Mrs Corson, of Woodstock. A husband and young family of three children, the eldest being 5A years and the youngest 9 days old, are left to mourn their loss. Deep sympathy will be felt for the bereaved husband and. relatives d!n their sad loss.
