. INTERNAL DISTRESS. /AUSTRALIAN it N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION] WASHINGTON, Oot. 26. Official advices show that there political and economic- distress in Germany. Discontent is acute, and the Socialists are most active, threatening to tear up factories if the war extends into the winter. ’ There are more frequent uprisings in several districts, including Berlin, where the soldiers participated. Germany’s .population wants peace, the people declare it must bo concluded hy November. Workmen are demanding increased pay and more liberal apportionment of food. ’ Allied air-raids are increasing the discontent. The raid at Essen killed eight hundred soldiers who were attending a circus.
