A military writer in the “Svensrna Dagbladet” says ]in Iconsfequence of the recent German successes at Riga, the question of attempting to force tho Sound and Belts by the Enteno is being seriously considered.. Judging by recent observations, it may be assumed that Germany is making a special effort to deal with such an attempt. A record number of destroyers su'd submarines are stationed at Oresnnd.
FRENCH CABINET RESIGNS. (TN’ceivod Tl"'s Do.* at 11.25. a.m.; PARTS, October 23. Following a Cabinet Council M. Painlevo tendered the Cabinet’s resignation. M. Poincare, (president) refused to accept it, pointing out that the Chamber on Friday had voted confidence in tho Government. The Ministers thereupon placed their resignation in the hands of the President of the Council who will examine tho situation. GREEK ‘TRIALS. (Received This Dav at noon.) ATHENS,' October 23.
