From Canterhury Hoard, granting a further three months leave of absence to Miss Willetts; authorising various repairs asked for; granting permission to retain extra pupil teacher till end >i‘ the year; authorising' erection ol outhouse at South Spit; stating that the services of .Miss Kempthorne ns extra assistant teacher in the secondary school could not he continued after the close of the present quarter.—Received.
From'Rector, reporting roll number 362.9. and average attendance. 334.0. To retain tile fifth primary assistant the primary school roll mini her; now averaging 282.9, requires to reach 290 for the quarter, and he asked for the co-operation of the Com'.mittee 'and parents; suggesting an effort he made to continue the services of the extra assistant in view of the nearness of the examination; recording a number of absences of the teaching staff ; asking that the school fence he completed. —Received. It was resolved that thHigh School Hoard be asked to find funds to enable the teacher to ho retained.
From Rector stating the school sports would he held on Wednesday alternoon weather permitting.—Received.
ft was resolved to telegraph to the Canterhury Hoard asking for the ox'animation report of Hokitika School to bo forwarded as soon as possible. Tbo question of title of tbe portion of ground asked to he fenced in by Rector was referred to the Secretary to enquire into. Froim ‘the .Canterbuqw Board congratulating teacher at South Spit on the neatness of the roll and general appe'aranee and cleanliness of the School. —Received.
From Teacher -of South Spit Yeoorting roll number 26 and average attendance 23.6 ; expressing appreciation of complimentary letter from Hoard.— Received.
From Board’s Foreman enclosing specifications for draining etc. —Received. Accounts amounting to £l7 18s. Od; were passed for payment. It was resolved to convey to Mr. Hickson the sympathy of tin* Committee in his recent bereavement. Tenders for drainage works etc. at tlie school were opened from -Mr., A. Krakowsky £36, and D. Pooling £64. It was resolved to send on tbe low nst tender with recommendations that it lie accepted.
Messrs Preston and Rennet f wen appointed visitors for the month.
