To-morrow (Friday) evening McLean's Pictures will present a Metro five act drama "The black Biittorilv” It is a play filled with deep heart interest a s well as the terrors of war. and is Mine. Petrova’s most magnificent screen triumph.' In it she takes fwo parts, those of a woman who has won fame as an opera singer, and of the liewitching daughter of the singer. Seldom lias a sceeir star essayed two such difficult parts in one production. The story of the play itself written l>y L. Case. Russell put into scenario form hy Wallace C. Clifton, and produced by Popular Plays and Players is one that appeals strong to the emotions. Sonia Smirnov is a trusting girl who falls in love with a French officer, and flees with' him to Paris whore they go through a marriage ceremony. After ward the officer disappears aim Sonia is led to believe, by a note, that the ceremony was a mock one. Then follows a black period with various episodes. Ultimately all comes right again.
