BROACHING CARGO. WELLINGTON, Oct 2. Four firemen on an overseas steamer were sentenced to twelve months in the Police Court this morning on charges of stealing thirty clocks and thirty pairs of scissors from the cargo of ithe vessel. Chief Detective Boddam said that the agents of overseas’ vessels repeatedly reported these thefts, and he asked for a maximum -icnnltv as a deterrent.

ASHBURTON October 2. At tho Police Court to-day, Ernest Bush was charged with omitting to account for £205 1 2/6 to John Henry [ball. Accused was committed to tho Supreme Court for trial.

At, the Police Court, Margaret Mary McCracken charged with bigamy with Charles Frederick Hansen, who was charged in turn with marrying*AlcOrae ken knowing her to he aulreadv married. Both were elderly people. Alexander McCracken , deposed that the woman was liis wife.. Accused were both committed for trial.
