Thompson formerly insurance agent, of Wanganui, in . that he made a statement containing an accusation that Dr. Hotop, <>f Eea- j therston, that military camp, was under the influence of liquor while examining Thompson. The accused has been attached to the Records Office, and was examined on August Bth. and declared lit for active service. He expressed surprise at the decision, and wrote to the camp authorities , making a complaint including tho | statement forming the subject of the charge. The ease is unfinished. FLOOD REPORTS. DENEDIX, September 27. Reassuring reports are coming from . the Taieri Plain. Ontram is cut off by road and rail hut all the stock j were removed safely. The damage is reported to he slight. j it has stopped raining in tho hack country and the flood waters are receding. CLAIM FOR LIBEL. CHRISTCHURCH September 27. .Messrs Heath and Co., the wellknown Christchurch drapers, have issued a writ against the “John Bull” Newspaper Proprietary, Ltd, (Frederick ,J. Dawson, printer, and Maurice Goldsborougji journalist), claiming Clooo general damage for alleged libel. RAIN INCESSANT. TIM ARC, jSopt. 27.
