German official: Our counter-attacks frustrated English attempts at St. Julian. We ejected the French who penetrated our positions on the Som-mery-Souain road. We / rmod i height eastward of Chalurao Wood.

(Received this day at 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, September 16. Gorman official.—Northwestward of Menin-Ypres Road the English forced our foremost trenches for four company’s width. The English on a fifteen hundred *■' -.lagtrea front at Chisky used flame throwers and armoured cars. We threw them out of the trenches after hand to hand fighting. A seoond attempt -Sr; also broke down.
