The Dannovirke ■ Racing Club’s. Spring 31eeting was held in showery weather and the track was Blow, Thore was an average attendance. The totalizator receipts were £15,037, as against £15,993 for the first day of'the corresponding meeting last year. Results:—
TRIAL STAKES—Polynesian 1, Xalmmanga. 2, Signorella 3. Won by a length and a half. Time. 1,13. JUMPER'S FLAT—Sleight of Hand 1, Tatimi 2, Gold Frail 3. Won by a length with half a length, between second and third. Time 2.18. SPRING HANDICAP—Vagabond 1, Bairnsdale 2, Dribble 3. Won by half a length, with a neck separating second and third. Time—l.l9. ’ Settler dropped dead after the race.
U3IUTAROA HACK—King’s Armour 1. Nobleman 2, Try Again 3. Tbo winner led al] the way. Time—l.l9 1-5 HACK HURDLES—Colorado 1, Jem 2, Yarilla 3. Won by two lengths. Time—2.sß. Eight horses fell and one horse lost its rider, Traill, who broke his collar bone.
HACK STEEPLES—Merry Jack 1, Tvurapai 2. Coalition 3. Won by three lengths.. Time 4.51.
OTANGA HANDICAP—Detroit 1, Chuckle 2, Botanist 3. Won by threequarters of a longth. Time—l,37. WELTER. HACK—Rio 1, Hastie 2, AH Talk 3. Won by half a length. Time 1.37.

CHRISTCHURCH, September 12; At the first meeting of the newlyelected hoard of Hie New Zealand Trotting - Association to-day 3Tr. P. Selig was ■ re-elected president for' tho eighteenth year. Several speakers said that the present standing, of trotting was largelv due to the valuable work done by 3lr. Selig and those associated with him during tlie earlv days of the sport.
The following report, of the subcommittee regarding starting before time, wns agreed to:—Should any rider or driver be called off once durum a racing season he shall receive a caution: should any rider or driver be called off more than once during a season the licensing committee shall consider the case and make recoin mondafcion to the first meeting of the hoard whether such rider or driver shall retain his license or otherwise. "
