FAREWELL TO DRIVER “NED” CROPP.

The people of the Koitorangi and Kokatahi districts assembled “on mas- «■” in the' Koitorangi Hall on Friday night last, at a farewell social tendered to Driver E. Cropp, who is home on final leave before sailing with the next reinforcements. “Ned” is tho third sen of Mr. and Mrs. R. C'ropp to don tho khaki (Bert having returned wounded from Gallipoli, William was wounded in France but has since rejoined' his unit). During tho evening Mr. If. Norman (County Chairman) in h few well chosen words extended to the departing soldier tho good wishes of the people, of the district and wished him God Speed and, a safe return, (cheers) Driver Cropp responded in a very neat speech and said he could never ofrget tho. good people of Koiterangi where he had lived nil his life. Ho look od forward to the time when he would see them all again.—Applauso. Music was supplied by Mr. and Miss Irene Mehn.rry Miss Woolhouse and Miss Dimmiek piano; Mr. Kelly* violin : -or Cropp cornet. Songs were contributed hv J Duncan, F. Lynch, arid W. Read and recitation by Messrs Coulson and W. Smith. *

The floor was in charge of Mr. J Spence and a most dainty supper wap provided by the ladies of Koiterangi Dancing was kept up till the smal’ hours of tho morning, and Auld Lang Svne and cheers for the departing soldier brought a most enjoyable function to a close.
